Welcome to the new face of Great Bear LIVE

If you were watching the Great Bear LIVE feeds during this year’s herring spawn, or if you’ve recently tuned back into the Seal Garden after its break over the winter, you may have noticed some fairly major changes have been introduced with fairly little fanfare!

The time has come to change that, and today we’re proud to announce that Great Bear LIVE has a new home in the Pacific Wild universe – a microsite you can find any time at greatbearlive.org.

The site has all the features you’ve become accustomed to - links to your favourite camera and hydrophone live feeds, archived footage, information about the Great Bear Rainforest – with a few major improvements. The first: now cameras and hydrophones stream equally well on Android and iOS so you can watch and listen anytime, anywhere on your mobile device. The second, more important improvement is that the site has been reconfigured so that you can easily take action on issues affecting the animals and habitat you see on-screen.

As of today, you can participate in discussions on the live feeds, easily access relevant petitions or email letter writing campaigns from Pacific Wild, share links on Facebook and Twitter, and more - all from the comfort of a single page.

It’s an exciting moment for Great Bear LIVE, which has long inspired and educated people around the world – and today we are ensuring that they can apply and share that awareness and knowledge immediately and easily through the new site. Stay tuned as we continue to update the site and tie the live feeds into new campaigns and actions you can take. We look forward to connecting with you better and, together, continuing our work to enact change, like the establishment of a tanker ban, the creation of marine protected areas for the Great Bear Sea, and much more.

We are grateful for the investment of the LUSH Charity Pot Fund, Save Our Seas Foundation, and MEC. Their support of Great Bear LIVE, and their broader dedication to protecting the land and sea of the Great Bear Rainforest, enabled us to work with the talented team at Van City Studios. Ryan and James built a site that far exceeded our expectations. Their creativity, talent, and professionalism has helped us build a new, effective platform to continue education and outreach on behalf of the land, sea, and communities of the Great Bear Rainforest.

And, of course, none of this would have been possible without the encouragement and support of our supporters and donors, who have been with us since the beginning, pushing us to make sure this project achieves its full potential. Thank you for your years of support and engagement on- and off-line! As you make your way through the site, please don’t hesitate to contact us with questions or comments. We welcome your input and especially appreciate your help with debugging as we keep improving the site into the summer season.
