This camera is offline for the season and will return next spring.
In the springtime, thousands of Pacific herring flood through this tidal passage as they make their way from the deep water and get ready to spawn. Wolves, eagles, bears and other animals are visible above the surface, and this underwater camera captures seals, sea lions, and other marine life feasting on the herring and their rich roe. If we are lucky, some of the herring will spawn in view of the camera, temporarily turning the water a milky white with their milt and leaving behind layers of eggs.
